In this day and age of the mighty dollar masquerading as king, it becomes more and more difficult to trust businesses who have a vested interest in gaining your sale. As cats can’t talk to us, or perhaps I should say, as we can’t hear what cats are telling us, we don’t have that all important input to know if we are providing our cats with a healthy cat food.

If you do a quick search on the internet, you’ll come across practically all pet food manufacturers proclaiming their brand is ‘all natural’, ‘healthy’, ‘holistic’, even ‘organic’, but in every single case they are selling dry food.

Just think about it for a minute. Dried food which contains any form of meat just won’t keep at room temperature. Try keeping your steak out of the refrigerator for a few days and see what happens.

So how do pet food manufacturers keep cat food indefinitely at room temperature?

The only possible way to do this is to add preservatives. Despite many claims saying there are no preservatives, logic tells you there has to be.

Cooking in itself may preserve meat a little longer than raw meat, but not for weeks, or even years.

So what, you may be thinking, I know there are preservatives in some of the foods I eat and I seem to be OK. Surely a few preservatives doesn’t mean I’m not feeding my cat a healthy cat food?

I personally don’t think any preservative is OK. It may appear to be harmless in the short term, but in the long term there will be consequences.

But apart from my personal opinion, there are some laws, perhaps rather basic or not well enforced, in almost every country around the world, that protects human food. So all preservatives used in human food has to be considered ‘reasonably safe’ by some standards.

Unfortunately, there are no such safe guards in pet food. Or the laws are even less effectively enforced than the human laws.

So the preservatives used in cat food can be the most toxic. Does cat food containing highly toxic preservatives sound like a healthy cat food to you?

Ever heard of formalin? Embalmers use it to preserve dead bodies.

Formalin, also known as formaldehyde, is widely used in pet food to preserve it.

You probably haven’t heard of ethoxyquin. That’s a preservative used in the rubber industry. It’s in the tyres of your car. So what on earth is it doing in your cat food?

Lets look at ethoxyquin’s history. When factory workers were exposed to it, they exhibited side effects similar to those of agent orange:

Are you getting a bit concerned? Perhaps your cat is suffering from some kind of organ damage? Here are a few other common preservatives used in cat food to keep it at room temperature indefinitely;

No manufacturer can keep preservatives out of dry cat food if it has a long shelf life.

So, if you don’t feed your cat a commercial cat food, what can you feed her?

To my way of thinking, the only sure way of knowing you are providing a healthy cat food is to prepare it yourself.

Before you throw your hands up in horror, saying you don’t know how, you don’t have time, that’s where I come in.

I’ve done the research for a balanced, healthy cat food.

I’ve made all the mistakes and can show how not to fall into the traps I did.

By feeding your cat a healthy cat food, you’ll have fewer trips to your veterinarian and your cat will live longer.

I think going into the military (Army / Marines) when I 18 in 3 years. However, I am not in the best shape. What are the exercises that can help me do more of these exercises. I can not do one pull up, I can only about 25 push ups and sit-ups in a row without stopping. Thank you in advance

Thus Interestingly most people can not do a single pull-up. I remember when I started, I could barely make 1. Now, I could do 7. I suggest that you either Pullups Partial or Assisted Pullups. What I mean with Pullups part is that you work only by the negative phase or when your body is lowered. For example: you put a chair under a pull up bar, pullup you start when your chin is above the bar. Slowly (at least 3 seconds) yourself below. A Once you've dropped you, get up on the chair and repeat the exercise again. This provides a maximum stimulation of muscles. Once it becomes more easily increase by another 3 seconds. Once you can do 6 seconds, it is time to do 1 pull-up perfect. Remove a chair and attempt 1 pullup perfect. Increase of 1 a pullup week. You'll be amazed at what strength you have developed. Pullups assisted with finding someone to help you in the positive phase (you pull) allowing them to lift you up. The least help the better. Partial and assisted exercises can be applied to any exercise you have any difficulties with. Just persevere and with a little time you arrive. I suggest you do Janda situps versus regular situps, they are more effective in building strength. Janda Situps: Suppose the slope standard knee crunch position while your partner holds the leg just below the calves. This hand position is the secret of the Janda sit-ups. Your feet should remain in contact with the ground at any time during movement, and the knees should be bent no more than 90 degrees. Bow down hands on your chest, inhale and slowly straighten while applying steady pressure against your partner's hands with your legs. Stop when the tension in ABS is about to drop (about halfway up) and exhale as lead. Inhale again and yourself all the way down to the floor, with pushups you can do the exercise more difficult by using different variants such as 1 arm pumps, high pumps, pumps weighted Straight Shaft and Plate pumps. My year old cat is so sneaky. He hides constantly. It opens doors when they are closed by pushing them until they pop open. He opens cupboards and draws things with his claws. He sleeps on the couch, even if we do not allow furniture. He is constantly, and we have friends who are allergic to fur. We water it when we catch him, but he knows our schedule and took the habit of doing things behind our backs. When we arrived home, he never ever these things. It is so introverted, it is customary to play more around us. But as soon as we leave the room or going to sleep, he keeps climbing on furniture and scratching in the apartment. How can we get him to be more docile and friendly. He is so shy and timid. He used to be very playful and very sweet, but still in need and challenge.

If he never does these things when you're around, it could be difficult to correct. I would try to watch when they think you are not watching (maybe hiding), then immediately after it is engaged behavior you want to discourage watering. It is also important to provide alternative behavior. For example, when he jumps on the couch watering. When he goes down, reward him (with a treat or something like that) for this behavior acceptable alternative. It is important to him to be punished (PCI) immediately after a problem occurs, so that combining this bad behavior with a response that dislikes. As I said, it could be difficult if he never does this when you are there, but it would help if you are able to hide and to catch some of these things. Good luck:)
